There are so many exciting releases on the horizon. We’re just over three weeks away from the release of Starfield. Following that, we’ve got Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2, Mortal Kombat 1, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Lies of P, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty - and that’s just to name a few.

The problem is, it’s not a cheap task staying on top of the latest releases - so we’re here to make sure you’re in the know on the latest free offerings too. After all, gaming should be accessible to everyone, regardless of budget. Just this morning, we reported on the latest free-to-play offerings to land on Steam which included a 100-player Tag-inspired battle royale and a mysterious narrative adventure centring around a giant stone baby. Intriguing. Right now though, I’m here to tell you about the new strategy RPG Railroads & Catacombs which is delighting players - and you can sample it for free.

Take a look at the trailer for Railroads & Catacombs below.

Developed by Felipe Aullo Gonzalez and published by IndieArk, Railroads & Catacombs has been in development for five years. It’s expected to launch in the remainder of 2023, although no release date has yet been set. There is a free demo available to try on Steam though - and it’s proven to be a hit with players, garnering a review score of 96% at the time of writing.

Reviews described the game as “interesting”, praising the game’s exploration, turn-based tactical card game combat, and the ‘sanity’ mechanic. Others added that the UI could do with lightly tweaking, while the tutorial does last a tad too long. At least you’ll be doubly sure of what you’re doing.

The game’s synopsis reads, “Players will board a train and lead their team through the land of madness and desolation. And you will need to make supply runs during the treacherous journey, surviving while already fallen into despair.” Dive in for free while you can.
