Classic Zelda Vibes Are Strong in New Steam RPG You Can Try Free Now

Hey, Listen!

An upcoming game with strong classic Zelda vibes is hitting Steam next year, and you can already try a small slice of it.

The Legend of Zelda remains one of the most influential game series of all time, particularly the early titles, which had a massive effect on 2D RPGs of the 80s and 90s.

Even today, there are so many games that are directly, or indirectly, influenced by the iconic Nintendo series.

Moonshire from Challacade is one such game. It blends modern game design with a retro Zelda look to it, that upon first glance you might even think this was something that was released in the 90s.

Looking at screenshots, or at the trailer I’ve linked below, it definitely has that classic Zelda appeal. Fans of A Link to the Past especially might be able to see part of that game’s DNA imbued here.

In case you wanted to check it out for yourself, Moonshire now has a demo available which you can grab from the Steam store page.

“Moonshire is an action-adventure game set in a non-linear world full of many challenges, and many rewards,” reads the official game description. “Forced to escape your homeland due to an ominous threat, you assume the role of the Sage's Apprentice, whose goal is to find a way to save Moonshire.

“Learn the art of combat as taught by the Sage. Explore a range of weapons, from conventional spears and longswords to versatile options like boomerangs and the magical Lightning Rod. Each weapon enhances your defense when equipped, and can also be strategically employed - sacrifice it to restore health, or throw it as a projectile for long-range damage.

“By exploring your surroundings and overcoming the dungeons, bosses, and battles along the way, you'll uncover exciting new items and abilities that improve your options in combat, while also opening up new areas to explore.

“Uncover the mysteries surrounding the unknown threat, and make your way back home to Moonshire! Your path is filled with challenges and opportunities, so arm yourself with unique abilities and an arsenal of weapons. The fate of Moonshire rests in your hands…”

There's no set release date for Moonshire yet, but Challacade has said it will be coming in 2026.
