Steam drops 99% rated free puzzle game that you can beat in an hour

The weekend is nearly over, and if you’re in need of a little brainteaser to occupy your break time at work next week, it might be a good time to check out this brand new free puzzle game that’s just hit Steam.

One of the best storefronts for finding free games is Steam, which often gets many new free games available on the store every day.

If you’re a gamer on a tight budget—or even no budget at all—free games can be a great way of getting new gaming experiences without breaking the bank.

20 More, Somehow Even Smaller, Mazes is a brand new free game that’s come to Steam this week (via Steam Hype) that is the sequel to 2024’s 20 Small Mazes.

As the title implies, this is a game with twenty small brainteasers to solve in the form of mazes, where you need to find your way through each one to the end before moving onto the next one.

These mazes are connected in bizarre but truly interesting ways, as these twenty mazes are cluttering up your screen, which can make things difficult to understand if you’re not willing to drag and move things around to make them more understandable.

Developer FLEB, who is also known for releasing a few other free brainteaser games online, says that the game should take “around 30 minutes” to beat, making it the perfect thing to play while on a lunch break.

There is some accessibility information to be aware of though. For starters, while the game is accessible for players who are hard-of-hearing or colourblind, there are a few puzzles which require knowledge of English in order to progress.

In addition to that, there are separate volume sliders for each type of audio, as well as options for separate captions for every type of audio. There’s also controller support if that tickles your fancy, and you also don’t have to press two buttons at the same time.

20 More, Somehow Even Smaller, Mazes is an incredibly popular free game on Steam

As of writing, the game currently has 99% positive ratings on Steam, indicating that players are feeling “Overwhelmingly Positive” about it.

“Like the first game, its a great example of a puzzle game that doesn't take itself too seriously and it's better off for that. Honestly would've liked to have paid to play this, which is a very rare sentence for me to say,” reads one review for 20 More, Somehow Even Smaller, Mazes.

“Quite possibly no game developer in the world makes me happier than FLEB. unbelievable amounts of whimsy and cleverness, a little toy just for me, please keep making games for as long as you like. i would pay money for this in a heartbeat. tell me how to give you money,” reads another review.

Previously, FLEB had released 20 Small Mazes in 2024, a game with an identical premise but with a slightly longer play time. It also released several other brainteaser-type games, such as the logic puzzle game RYB, and last year’s Strange Jigsaws, a paid game featuring jigsaws you need to complete.
