Steam free download is the most relaxing thing you'll 'play' this year

I’m not even sure if you can exactly call Steam’s latest free title a “game” in the usual sense of the word, but I gotta admit that it looks like an incredibly cute way to waste some time and vibe while doing it.

Do you enjoy playing games where you shoot stuff, or engage in deep roleplaying mechanics? Or maybe you’re a fan of titles that really put your brain to work, like Blue Prince or Portal 2?

Well, today’s example is none of those things. Technically, I’m not even sure it’s even a video game, technically. It’s more of an… app? Or like, I dunno, a digital fidget spinner?

Either way, it looks cute as hell, and you can download a free demo for this idle title right now. Not really sure what a demo for a game like this offers that the full game won’t, but, uh, here you go anyway.

ICYMI: Oblivion Remastered is out now!

Milly's Meadow is a "relaxing idle game" from developer and publisher Diesel Laws, and its free demo just hit Steam the other day.

Even I think this might be stretching the definition of an idle game though, because you don’t really do anything in Milly’s Meadow. You kinda just watch Milly chill out on your desktop. Maybe resizing the window is the gameplay aspect? Or changing her clothes?

It seems there will be some kind of idle-like elements to the full release however, as the developer states that although the demo “is a minimal version of the base game”, Milly’s Meadow will feature “new activities like fishing and farming” and further customisation options when in drops in “Q3” of 2025.

Until then, you’ll have to make do with resizing the window to scratch your gameplay itch. On the plus side, the soundtrack is an absolute bop. Honestly, I might download it just to listen to that chill beat on repeat…
