Steam users can benefit from a new free game, and it’s not a bad one either all things considered.

While the Epic Games Store is where you want to be looking for AAA games given away for nothing, Steam is a great destination for those hidden gems you’d usually gloss over while scrolling through the store pages.

It’s where indie games tend to shine too, like Alchemy Of The Earth.

The game we’re talking about today is Catacombs, and no this isn’t a dark, depressing soulslike adventure set in a sprawling tomb; it’s a lighthearted adventure about a cat set in a sprawling tomb instead.

“In Catacombs,” the game’s Steam description begins, “you control Tabby, a street cat on his way to visit a friend in the afterlife. Unfortunately, Osiris himself forbade your entry and ordered his minions to stop you. Venture deep into the catacombs, pouncing to assume control over his minions, all to foil the will of the gods!”

It sounds a little bit wild but it has a cute cat on the cover so what’s not to love? And it’s free, so you can’t argue with that.

The reviews have been pretty positive too, with one reading: “Great game, loved the little story and art, the gameplay was unique. I also loved playing as a little orange cat. However some of the hitboxes and controls feel a little bit clunky and misplaced, it is especially noticeable when pouncing.”

At the time of writing, it’s rated Positive on Steam based on a handful of reviews, so if you want to add to them, give it a go at the earliest convenience.

It’s definitely one to try out, but if you’re not a cat person or it’s just not your cup of tea, worry not as there are plenty of other freebies out there instead.
