Steam new free game is a hit: 'I'm having so much fun'

Tons of replayability with this one

Gunbot Diplomacy: Blast Off is a new top-down shooter roguelite that’s rapidly proven a hit with players - and oh, did I mention it’s totally free-to-play?

Developed by Sleepy Sentry and published by partners GrabTheGames and Gamersky Games, Gunbot Diplomacy: Blast Off launched just a few days ago on 25 April.

“Splatter slimes, massacre mutants, and assemble your perfect Gunbot,” teases the synopsis.

“Survive hordes of enemies in this top-down shooter roguelite by customising your weapons on the unique upgrade grid, and pick from a wide variety of build-defining modules and wacky base bots for a new experience every run,” it continues.

As I said, Gunbot Diplomacy: Blast Off is free-to-play although it is designed to be somewhat of a prologue to Gunbot Diplomacy which is a paid title.

That being said, there’s plenty to keep you busy in this free predecessor if you don’t want to part with your cash.

Devs promise “plenty of replayability and a few hours of potential gameplay”.

That’s made possible by the availability of two gunbots, eight starter weapons, 50 modules, 20 unique enemy types, 10 different maps, and plenty of augments and ammo options.

The question is, can you tear yourself away from Oblivion Remastered?

As a roguelike, no two runs are the same, so you can see why even as a prologue, players are getting the miles out of this experience.

Despite having only just landed a few days ago, Gunbot Diplomacy: Blast Off already boasts a ‘Very Positive’ review score on Steam.

“I'm having so much fun with this game, it’s kind of like survivor.io but better ... The weapon combos, the bot builds, the upgrade grid, everything feels super satisfying and interesting,” one review read.

“A really fun roguelite shooter [..] The different combinations of bots and weapons is going to keep things fresh for a long time,” added another.

“The only reason I downloaded this game was to get another one for free, BUT I DON'T REGRET PLAYING IT. It's a wonderful prelude to the full game. The gameplay is enjoyable and rather diverse. Also, achievements are easy to obtain! You should give it a try if you have an hour to spare,” said another.

Well, if you’re not persuaded by praise like that, I don’t know what to tell you.
