Steam Drops Free Download For Hugely Anticipated Sequel

Eight years after the game was revealed

If you like RPGs, then you may enjoy one of Steam’s latest free offerings.

A new demo has arrived for the highly anticipated sequel Digimon Story: Time Transfer, and it appears to be well worth a play.

If you’re not familiar, this is the seventh instalment in the long-running Digimon Story franchise, but it’s one fans have had to wait a long, long time for.

Digimon Story: Time Transfer officially lands on 2 October in Japan and 3 October worldwide, eight years after the series’ last entry.

It’s coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC - which also makes it the first entry to land on Xbox in the franchise’s history.

Given that Digimon Story: Time Transfer was first revealed in 2017, you can understand why fans are in disbelief over the fact that its release is almost finally here.

If you’ve not played a Digimon Story title before, it’s part RPG and part monster-tamer.

This latest instalment is set within Tokyo where “an agent of a secret organisation encounters an unknown creature shortly before a city-leveling explosion. They then reawaken eight years in the past.”

The synopsis continues, “Take on a mission to uncover the mystery of the world’s collapse, where chance encounters with unique characters will shape your journey across time and parallel worlds - and change fate itself.”

Players will travel between the human world and parallel Digital World Illiad, where the Digimon reside.

Each world contains plenty of interactive elements with a bunch of special quests for you to take on.

Combat comes in the form of strategic turn-based battles, where you can make use of more than 450 Digimon, each with various customisation options.

As I said, a demo has now launched on Steam as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, giving you some idea of what to expect.

You’ll be able to play through the game’s opening with all save data carrying over should you end up purchasing the full release.

This gives players the opportunity to get a head start and recruit Digimon before release day.

There’s no word on what we’re looking at in terms of how many hours you can potentially get out of this demo offering but it sounds pretty substantial.

It looks like its announcement has gone down well with fans.

“Oh that's perfect! I've been trying to decide whether to buy on PS5 or PC, and have been waiting for reviews to figure out which would be better performance-wise. Now I can test both myself to see which I like better,” wrote Reddit user DrakusRex.

“Happy about this, I probably was not going to buy it but the demo could change that! One of those games I need a demo of,” biggiebass13 added.

If you feel the same, give it a whirl now.
