Stardew Valley fans who are also into horror might feel right at home with this upcoming release on Steam.
Vampire Rancher is a farming sim game in which you play as a farmer by day, but become a vampire at night. It’s your job to balance your urge to feed with your desire to let the town prosper.
The game’s official description on Steam reads: “Rancher by day, Vampire by night. Manage your time and resources to restore your sleepy little town to its former glory, all while satisfying your vampire needs for blood. Oversee shops and saloons, farm crops and humans, and explore ancient vampiric ruins in the Weird Wild West!”

As a vampire, the town’s success as a tourist destination is in your best interest. The more visitors that come to see the sights, the more potential food for you to quench your thirst.
This includes designing shops and saloons to fit visitors’ needs, crafting different resources to ensure everyone remains happy. As a rancher, you have a direct influence over this.
You will also be able to level up abilities, embark on quests, and explore old ruins to find unique rewards that aid your mission to improve the town.
The moral dilemma of being a vampire needing to feed on humans while also caring for them and sprucing up their home will be a key part of what makes Vampire Rancher’s premise interesting, and we can’t wait to see more.

Vampire Rancher currently doesn’t have a release date, but developer Borispixel is aiming for a Q4 2025 launch.
However, a free demo is available to play now which you can download from the Steam store page. This will give you a small slice of the game to try out ahead of the official release later this year.
Vampire Rancher joins a long list of games like Stardew Valley that may satisfy fans of the farming sim genre.
This includes the likes of Traveller’s Rest, Wanderstop, and World’s Dawn, which are all pretty excellent.
