It’s always nice to claim some free gaming goodness, especially this time of the year during a cost-of-living crisis. What’s more, with it being Halloween season, horror can be a worthy distraction from our worldly woes.

Thankfully Steam has us covered with the ‘Steam Scream Fest’ which not only offers some fantastic discounts but highlights some fun free-to-play games as well as playable demos that might be worth checking out.

Check out our Resident Evil 4 video review below!

Titles such as the Resident Evil 4 remake and its newly released Separate Ways DLC have been discounted, along with the likes of Diablo VI, the Dead Space remake, The Last of Us Part I, The Outlast Trials and much more. If you fancy something free-to-play, then Poppy Playtime, Stalcraft and Project: Playtime might tickle your fancy. You can even check out free playable demos for Cult of the Lamb, Inscryption and Inside.

However, Steam is also offering seven free downloads in the form of animated stickers that can be used on your profile just by visiting the promotion page. In fact, you’ll get one free sticker for seven days of the promotion. Happy days! The promotion which includes the free stickers and discounts ends this week on Thursday, 2 November. So be sure to check out the promotion to see what suits you this Halloween.

Arguably the best game to feature in the Steam Scream Fest promotion is Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 and its Separate Ways DLC. In our review of Separate Ways, we said, it: “expands upon what was already a great product with the Resident Evil 4 remake, but it also introduces new features into the series that I hope will be carried over into new entries. Resident Evil 4 is already a must-own game for fans of survival horror and now that this version of Separate Ways has entered the fray, it’s elevated the remake to new heights.”

Resident Evil 4 and Separate Ways are available now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
