Steam drops 9 new games you can download and play free this weekend

Download and play these games for free

If you want to check out nine Steam games for free that you can download and play today, then you’re in the right place.

As a gamer, there’s not much worse than spending our hard-earned cash on a video game that we’ve been looking forward to that ended up being absolute trash or perhaps even heavily discounted the next day after we paid the full RRP. This is why places like the Steam store can be a blessing with loads of free games at our disposal.

Check out the Fishbowl trailer below!

So whether it’s on PC, PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo, having the chance to try before we buy can be a godsend. What’s more, it’s why subscription services such as PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass can offer so much value, as we have access to hundreds of games at a fraction of the cost of a AAA title.

With that in mind, the PC platform Steam has a page stacked with playable demos that you can download and play for free right now. However, with so many demos to choose from, I thought I’d pick out nine games that I believe you might want to check out.

Here are nine demos for you to check out today:

  • Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden: “Hunt ghosts as two memorable characters in a story-driven Action-RPG where your decisions carry dramatic consequences. Torn between honouring your oath to the living and saving your departed partner, how far will you go for love?”
  • Veritus: “Unshroud secrets hidden deep within the dark chambers of the god of shadow, Veritus’ castle. Persevere through monsters and mysteries lurking in every corner.”
  • Tom the Postgirl: “Take a ride with Tom through her village and discover a great deal—perhaps too much—about the locals. Her approach, although controversial, is highly effective: intense and obsessive stalking.”
  • Fishbowl: “Fishbowl is a slice of life, coming of age story told over a month. Video call loved ones, work from home, sort through puzzles to rediscover childhood memories, do care tasks and get to know yourself better, one day at a time.”
  • Yes, You Grace Snowfall: “Rule your crumbling kingdom as you try to satisfy the petty needs of your people in this cinematic kingdom management RPG. Balance your resources, collect taxes, hire agents and make difficult decisions to see your kingdom prosper or fail.”
  • TDS: “Utilise their uniquely deep, yet simple set of towers, create an everchanging defence and protect your Basin at all costs. A Tower Defense, Real-Time Strategy Hybrid.”
  • Balling Up: “Immerse yourself in a colourful journey through universes that do not forgive any mistakes. Jump well in the ball parkour game, where falling can cost you everything!”
  • Reka: “Channel your inner witch! Build your cosy chicken-legged hut, practice witchcraft, and forage for ingredients in autumnal woodlands. Solve quests & uncover the great mysteries of the legendary witch Baba Jaga.”
  • Angeline Era: “Fast-paced, nonlinear, 3D Action-Adventure with intense boss fights! Venture into an ancient land of Angels and Fae, as you slash and shoot through a lush world filled with outrageous hazards, charming creatures, and unholy abominations.”

So, there you have it, those of just nine of the thousands of demos available to check out for free on the Steam store. Hopefully, some of the above tickles your fancy.
