Resident Evil meets Blair Witch in photorealistic new survival horror

Resident Evil meets Blair Witch in photorealistic new survival horror

We're not sure we're brave enough for this one

Resident Evil has enough terrifying creations without influence from elsewhere, yet when elements of its gameplay mix with iconic horrors like Blair Witch, we can all agree that the results are horrifying.

Consider photorealistic horror Shhh! as a fight for survival, with every sound you make only drawing the evil closer to you. No matter what comes for you, you mustn’t scream, yet screaming is the most natural reaction when exploring in this game.

Made using Unity, players need to keep their wits about them and survive for 20 minutes without screaming. Sneaking about is mandatory, a bit like Resident Evil’s Leon when attempting to out manoeuvre Mr. X, but instead of roaming now deserted city streets, you’re lost in the woods, the tales of the Blair Witch ringing in your ears.

Long awaited horror remake Silent Hill 2 is finally due to land this year.

“I thought the game was really really good,” said one reviewer about Steam’s Shhh!, adding that “it definitely aced the horror atmosphere, and not being able to scream made it much worse.”

Thankfully, for fans of horror looking for thrills similar to horror’s greatest creation P.T., this game will deliver without a doubt. What is more, it’s an experience not limited to just the one scenario, with its latest location ‘Witch Wood’ delivering another nerve wracking landscape for you to attempt to navigate safely and quietly.

Those who’ve beaten the previous experiences are extremely excited to see what this new one has to offer: “That was a phenomenal and realistic horror experience with a lot of fun creepy ghost girls chasing you and jump scares! I highly recommend this one!”

Compared to 616 Games usual creations, Shhh! is markedly different, arguably taking inspiration from Don’t Scream, another PC game that’s set the horror community alight with praise for its realistic spooks.

Should you be brave enough to go down to the woods today for a big surprise, make sure to use your microphone and headphones to get the best experience. And whatever you do, don’t make a sound. You’ve been warned.
