Fans of the old-school Resident Evil games will want to check out this upcoming new release on Steam.
In recent years, the survival horror genre has had somewhat of a resurgence after being stale for quite some time, having to make do with abominations such as Resident Evil 6 and Silent Hill: Downpour.
Thankfully, titles like Resident Evil Village, the Silent Hill 2 remake, as well as indie darlings such as Visage and Tormented Souls have given us plenty of renewed hope.
However, sometimes, it’s great to go old-school, especially with new games that pay homage to the greats of yesteryear, such as 2021’s Alisa and this promising upcoming title, Pulsebreaker.

Developed and published by Anthony David Valles, Pulsebreaker looks like it’s taken straight out of the Resident Evil 2 playbook with PS1-inspired graphics, as well as improved combat that would no doubt impress Leon S. Kennedy.
“Enter the world of classic survival horror,” reads the synopsis of Pulsebreaker on Steam.
“Explore cramped corridors and unsettling urban environments as you figure out the reason behind a citywide outbreak. Collect resources, manage a limited inventory, and of course, battle your way through groups of zombies.”
“Gunplay is deep and becomes more varied with each new weapon you acquire. Stagger a monster with a well-timed shot and exploit weaknesses to emerge victorious. Combat is precise, but rewarding for those who master it.”

Judging by its gameplay trailer, Pulsebreaker looks like it could be an absolute blast, and as long as it releases before Resident Evil: Requiem, it should help keep us busy until the Capcom horror graces us with its presence.
