You can check out seventeen minutes of Resident Evil Requiem right this second, fresh from the floor of the 2025 Tokyo Game Show– just don’t blame me if you start getting déjà vu.
Capcom has been pretty keen to show off Resident Evil Requiem at every available opportunity since the first trailer for the game dropped at the 2025 Summer Game Fest in June, which is funny, because we haven’t really learned anything new about the game following said trailer.
Well, actually, that’s slightly unfair of me. They did also let the public try out the first demo for the game at the 2025 Gamescom on August 20. They also let folks try out the same demo at the 2025 PAX West on August 29… and you’re never gonna believe what they just let people play at Tokyo Game Show 2025.
Yeah, unfortunately, I don’t have much in the way of anything new for you today, because the demo build they let people play during the event seems to be indistinguishable from the one they’ve shown off twice already.

On the plus side, we did get a new write-up about the experience from Hardcore Gamer’s Jacob Bukacek, and several YouTubers have uploaded a full playthrough of it.
However, there is one truly interesting thing we got out of Capcom’s presence at the Tokyo Game Show, and that’s Rebekah Valentine's interview with Resident Evil Requiem’s producer Masato Kumazama and director Koshi Nakanishi over on IGN.
Valentine outright asked the pair why we haven’t seen much out of Leon (who is still yet to be confirmed as playable) in the game, and the two were as coy as you’d expect.
However, when pressed as to whether Resident Evil Requiem would be a “passing-of-the-torch” (as many have speculated that Leon will die during the events of the game), the producer had this to say.

"Although we don't have firm plans for the future storylines of later titles in the series, I still think passing the torch is probably going a bit too far, because we're not just going to wipe the slate clean completely in terms of the series lore and history”, replied Kumazama.
“But at the same time I don't want to always have to just go back to the well of existing characters to create new games, which was part of the motivation to introduce Grace."
I pray this means that Leon won’t actually bite the bullet. Chris got his time to shine in Resident Evil 8, so I think it’s high time that everyone’s favourite RE protagonist got another shot at headlining a game.
Unless the reason they keep showing the same footage of Grace over and over again is because you play through the majority of Resident Evil Requiem as Leon? Guess we won’t find out for sure until Capcom finally shows us something new.
