Long time fans of Resident Evil may find it difficult to return to the series roots nowadays, given how mechanically archaic the first game feels compared to modern releases.
That shouldn’t come as a surprise, the first Resident Evil game is almost 30 years old at this point, and features some clunky controls.
It’s no wonder fans want to see a proper remake, along the lines of what we saw for the second game, swiftly followed by remakes of Resident Evil 3 and the acclaimed Resident Evil 4.
However, this doesn’t seem to be a priority for Capcom, who are currently polishing the final stages of Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth instalment in the mainline franchise.

Instead, community creators have taken on the opportunity to remake the original game, calling their project ‘Resident Evil Remake Remake.’
Released as a demo some time ago, it has captured the attention of many after footage was seen on YouTube, with fans being blown away by the creation.
“Goddamn, this looks good,” said one user under the video showing several minutes of gameplay footage.
“LOOKS GREAT” exclaims another fan.

Sadly, the original project has come to an end after they were sent a cease and desist letter from Capcom, halting any and all work on the remake.
Some would interpret this as a sign that Capcom might have something of their own up their sleeve, and with the 30th anniversary coming up, maybe we’ll get that remake after all.
For now, we can only watch along on YouTube, unless you can source the demo for yourself, which is still to be found in corners of the internet.
The team behind this project also had a demo of a remade Code Veronica waiting for release, but had to also scrap that after communication with Capcom.
