If you’re an avid free game hunter, you’ll perhaps agree that it’s been quite the fruitful week.
The free-to-play Borderlands Mobile surfaced, even if only as a limited-time test, plus charming new cosy sim Find Your Words surprised us all by launching as a free title.
Then there’s Pokémon Champions and while it may not have dazzled players, even a bang average free Pokémon game is something to be enjoyed.
On top of that, four more free indie games have landed on PC storefront Steam and while not all free games are made equal, this isn’t at all a bad line-up.
Let’s begin with the highest-rated of the bunch.

Kart Attack is a split-screen multiplayer racing game from developer Team Warhorse and publisher SAU Game Lab.
It’s not all that different to pod racing in Star Wars as you select from kooky vehicles and a “whacky” cast of characters before heading to the start line.
“Want to race as a failed hot dog that shoots ketchup? Or two dudes chilling in a recliner having a cold one? This game is for you.”
Kart Attack doesn’t take itself too seriously, and players are having a great time with the game boasting an 86% approval rating.

“Is it pretty? No. Is it polished? Also no. Is it fun? Surprisingly, yes,” reads one review. A little bit of jank is fun from time to time.
Next up, you can now enjoy Neotag League from amfib.io, a futuristic sports game where robots parkour to hit a ball to score points.
You’ll jump, roll, and grapple your way around an oversized football pitch in what looks like a total blast.
Occasionally, all you need is a simple formula well executed. 80% of players are enjoying what Neotag League has to offer.
“The game has great potential and the movement mechanisms are really cool,” wrote one reviewer, while another added, “A good game for playing with friends!”
Changing up the vibe, you may enjoy 6 Floors if you’re a fan of horror games. This one is from developer Ghoul World.
“You find yourself in a strange place and the only way out is within,” the synopsis begins.
“Navigate liminal corridors and rooms filled with psychological terrors as you traverse all six floors of this mysterious place in order to save your soul.”
6 Floors features retro-inspired aesthetics which, if you ask me, massively ramp up the spooks. Those early fixed camera Resident Evil games sure can give you the heeby jeebies.
The game can be completed in around 20 minutes so it’s not a huge undertaking, but devs do warn of jump scares.

It has a 76% rating at the time of writing. One player remarked, “Very unique and vibey horror game. It has very intriguing NPCs and the mysterious story is really exciting to follow.”
Finally, you can now download BitSlaps which is an interactive multiplayer game.
This one sounds a tad all over the place. You can engage in “64-player co-op mayhem” where you’ll “run, dodge, and outsmart your friends as you face unpredictable hazards, slap powers, and physics-based traps”.
As for what the end goal is, I’m not sure I could tell you.
Slap abilities seemingly include freezing enemies, blasting them into the air, and stunning them.
Plus there’s a streamer mode where viewers can affect the gameplay by triggering in-game actions and events.

The reviews don’t paint a pretty picture so it’s perhaps the least enticing of the bunch.
There are definitely a couple of options here though worth your time this weekend - or you may prefer to simply download and throw them on the backlog.
