Steam confirms 15 unannounced games in major leak, along with Persona 6 and Kingdom Hearts 4 story details

A major Steam leak has seemingly revealed achievement lists for dozens of upcoming games, along with story details for major unreleased titles including Persona 6 and Kingdom Hearts IV.

Video game leaks are nothing new, with release dates, gameplay footage and details on unannounced projects regularly surfacing online. However, this latest Steam leak, as spotted on ResetEra by Gematsu, appears to be particularly extensive, with achievements reportedly appearing for a huge number of announced and upcoming games.

The achievements have appeared on Exophase, a site that focuses purely on tracking the achievements of Steam games, prompting questions surrounding how and why the site acquired the information early from Steam.

The scale of the leak raises questions for Valve and the publishers involved, particularly if any of the leaked information was covered by non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).

In total, at least 145 games appear to be included in the Steam achievement leak, and that number could potentially increase as more information comes to light.

Alongside the aforementioned Persona 6 and Kingdom Hearts IV, some of the biggest names reportedly caught up in the leak include EA Sports FC 27, Gears of War: E-Day and Silent Hill: Townfall.

While many of the leaked Steam achievements are vague or relatively inconsequential, achievements and trophies can sometimes reveal far more than developers intend. They can reference story events, characters, bosses and other major plot details, meaning some of the leaked information could potentially spoil highly anticipated games months or even years before release.

That could be particularly significant for story-driven games such as Persona 6, Kingdom Hearts IV and Gears of War: E-Day, where achievement descriptions may provide clues about major moments that developers would otherwise keep secret until launch.

At least 15 unannounced games are included in the Exophase / Steam leak

Alongside announced titles, the leak also details 15 games which, at the time of leaking, are unannounced. This includes an "unknown Sonic game", "unknown Star Wars shooter game", and "unknown Telltale TWD collection" to name some high-profile examples.

It remains to be seen how the developers and publishers involved respond to the Steam leak. Given the sheer number of games affected, however, it would be surprising if the situation didn't attract significant attention from the companies involved and potentially lead to further legal action.

If you're looking forward to any of the upcoming games included in the leak, be careful when browsing social media. You may want to mute or filter keywords relating to your most anticipated games, as potential spoilers could now spread rapidly across Reddit, X and other platforms.
