As much as gaming is an expensive hobby, you don’t have to spend very much in order to have fun.
That’s especially true if you’re a PC gamer, with storefront Steam boasting endless streams of free games.
Certainly, they’re not all worth playing, but recent addition Void of Lilly most definitely is.
Developed and published by Innocent Soul, Void of Lilly is a new RPG that players have fallen head over heels for, with one even calling it a “solid 10/10”.

Interestingly, it features both JRPG and bullet hell elements, with the story taking players to a location known as Axis City.
“A long time ago, people faced the Black Fog disease. That's how Axis City became the last bastion of humanity,” the synopsis begins.
“Years of progress within total isolation, and now it's a beautiful place, filled with advanced technologies.
“But you aren't really interested in all of this stuff, right? You just want to find your sister and bring her back!”
Void of Lilly will see you help Ann attempt to find her sister in a charming pixel-art adventure that lasts for one to two hours, depending on the pace you play at.
You’ll “hack” your enemies in bullet hell fights, all while exploring Axis City and uncovering its various mysteries.
You can also “pet cats” which feels like the most important inclusion of all.

At the moment, Void of Lilly boasts a very impressive score of 93% on Steam, but that hasn’t stopped some players from declaring it to be perfect.
“Came for the cute pixel art, surprisingly dark story and creepy vibes for a free two-hour game. You can also pet cats so that's a plus. Solid 10/10 to kill some time on a boring afternoon,” remarked one player.
“A great refreshing game, it was a good play. It was decently challenging but not annoying and engaging. It's fun and it had a good storyline,” added another.
One review read, “Game surprised me. It is kinda short but it is detailed and felt like a big name company made it. Story got a bit confusing for me at times cause there was just long portions of dialogue. 9/10 game still but I'll give it 10/10 for being free.”

Void of Lilly is, as we said, totally free-to-play - plus it won’t harm your backlog either with its short runtime.
It’s the type of pleasant bite-sized experience that can be wrapped up in a single sitting.
