Many games typically require a hefty time investment from players, but not this latest psychological horror from indie developer 72Studio.
Forgive or Finalize is a short narrative-driven thriller that can be completed in less than an hour.
It currently boasts a perfect score of 10 out of 10 on PC storefront Steam so if that doesn’t make it a must-play, I’m at a loss.
Featuring a pixel art aesthetic, Forgive or Finalize sees you assume the role of Jamie, an individual who finds himself in a confined space answering the questions of someone through a monitor known only as Finn.
“There are no grand reversals, intricate puzzles, or strategic elements,” the synopsis teases.

“As Jamie, your only role is to respond to Finn’s unsettling questions and witness the consequences of your choices.”

As you’ve perhaps picked up, it’s purely player choices that drive the plot of Forgive or Finalize forwards. There’s no combat or puzzle solving.
“Finn sits beyond the screen. Respond to his calm yet sharp questions through multiple-choice options to navigate the story,” devs advise.
It isn’t simply an experience comprising purely of reading though with players also required to “pick up” and “consume” something known as the mystery capsule.
It should take between 30 and 60 minutes to finish Forgive or Finalize, plus there are multiple endings which means there’s great replayability.
The devs hoped to create an experience with “a sense of claustrophobia and heart-pounding tension” and based on the perfect 100% review score, they’ve done that.
You should be warned that the game does feature loud noises, flashing lights, and “shocking psychological depictions” if any of those things make you comfortable.
As for what players have to say about this promising new free game, one remarked, “A delightfully short yet gripping visual novel. Forgive or Finalize is perfect if you want a quick dose of a spooky narrative.”

Another said, “I was a bit confused and not really into it at first, but in the end I found myself invested! Nice little short game.”
It’s definitely a game that won’t harm your backlog which is always welcomed, especially with how many awesome paid releases are out this week, including the likes of Replaced, Mouse P.I. For Hire, Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream, and Pragmata.
