Free Steam zombie shooter you’ve never heard of is getting rave reviews, somehow

Free Steam game Deathly Stillness is the best zombie shooter you'll probably play at 3:08pm

Who wants to play a free zombie shooter that is suspiciously receiving an odd amount of rave reviews, somehow? If so, then we might just have the game for you.

Now and again, an unexpected indie darling comes along and not only shakes the foundations of the video game industry in an instant but also changes our lives giving us more reason to exist every day. One such game is the critically acclaimed and sure-fire game of the decade contender, Deathly Stillness.

Check out the stunning Deathly Stillness gameplay below!

Developed by an individual named Chen Jiacheng, Deathly Stillness was created in just 17 days, much sooner than it had taken Ubisoft Singapore to develop Skull and Bones. Judging by the epic gameplay footage, Deathly Stillness is a zombie horde shooter but you must also survive as long as possible with no health packs to save your backside. Is Deathly Stillness the zombie roguelike shooter that we’ve been waiting for? Perhaps.

“This is a boring third-person zombie game with no plot. Please don’t have high expectations for the game, this is just a game I made for the tutorial, there is no gameplay, no plot, pure entertainment,” reads the description of the game on the Steam store. Like seriously, if that doesn't sell you, then perhaps these rave reviews will.

“Here I will leave the cat, friends who pass by can pet it and give it a thumbs up,” exclaimed Franky, leaving an image of a cat for us to make believe fuss. “Dev said this is just a boring zombie game, I'd say this is one of the best boring games I've ever played,” said an appreciative Devil Hunter. However, this most convincing and compelling user review of the Steam thread was left by XNFX who says “boob”.

If 2023 had taught me anything, it’s that a 2018 single-player game with no meaningful content support can win the ‘Labor of Love’ Steam award. So, despite being released in 2021, perhaps there is some hope that Deathly Stillness wins the accolade it so richly deserves.
