The worlds of Assassin’s Creed and Skyrim are vastly different, yet we can’t deny the allure of a game that sees both of them collide.
It seems we weren’t alone in being curious about such a game, as an upcoming RPG delivers such an experience.
Soulmask is a Steam title that's due to launch in Q2 2024, meaning we don’t have to wait long before we can see what this “authentic survival experience” has to offer.

“Escaping a deadly sacrificial ritual, you find an ancient mystical mask on your journey [...] Face the harsh challenges of nature, survive, rally followers, and build your own tribe. Explore and unveil the truths behind the enigmatic mask.”
What awaits you in Soulmask?
That all sounds thrilling, and a little dangerous – but we laugh in the face of danger! We’ve faced so much of it climbing every building in Assassin’s Creed, we've got this in the bag.

As if the challenge of overcoming the world of Soulmask doesn’t tempt us enough already, there’s a free demo to try while we wait for the game to launch; the mask might be evil, but this day just got a whole lot better.
“It looks pretty cool! Love the Aztec vibes, it’s kind of refreshing actually,” commented a Redditor after discovering a post about the game’s “Valheim” vibes.
Not only does it give us an Aztec setting, but NPCs also have a purpose; they don’t just do nothing once recruited, they actually work on your base to ensure your safety.
Soulmask shows much promise, it just needs a bit more “polish”. Fortunately, with the game still not out yet, that finesse should come before it launches.

The game’s demo is available now; however, it seems it only caters to PCs rather than Macs, we’re sad to report. This might change later down the line, but for now, this looks to be a PC/Steam Deck only experience.
Wishlist now to be notified when Soulmask launches later this year.
