Uncharted 5 may finally be upon us after all these years

Please, let it be Uncharted!

Naughty Dog has another game in development alongside Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and many will hope that game is Uncharted 5.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet was announced at The Game Awards in 2024, a sci-fi adventure with an 80s retro vibe that stars a bounty hunter, Jordan A. Mun, played by Tati Gabrielle (Uncharted movie, The Last of Us TV series, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina).

I’ve expressed my disappointment that the PlayStation 5 could be the first console generation to not have a brand new Uncharted game since the series' inception with Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune in 2007 on the PS3.

Moreover, I’ve also expressed my feelings on how the series should proceed if we ever get Uncharted 5. That being said, as the months pass, my optimism dwindles, but there may be a glimmer of hope after all.

As reported by Comicbook.com, when talking on the ‘Press X to Continue’ podcast, Naughty Dog chief Neil Druckmann revealed that the studio currently has two games in development.

Of course, one of those games is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, but the other game will no doubt spark waves of speculation across social media.

While we can only guess what that additional game might be, either Uncharted 5 or The Last of Us Part III would be the safest bets.

“There’s another game that’s being worked on at Naughty Dog where I’m more of a producer role, and I get to mentor and watch this other team and give feedback, and be like the executive in the room. I enjoy all those roles,” Druckmann explained.

It sounds like Neil Druckmann may have more of an advisory role on this other game in development at Naughty Dog, which likely means that he’ll be more hands-on with Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

It’s also not outside the realm of possibility that the next Uncharted game is being outsourced to another studio who may be working in the Naughty Dog office. We can only speculate.

We’ll keep you posted if we hear further news on the secret game currently in development.

At the time of writing, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet does not have a release date but is expected to launch sometime in 2027 on PlayStation 5.
