It looks like Sony is moving with the times more than ever, and while there are already grumbles that the various gaming giants are putting too much emphasis on artificial intelligence, the Blue Team is again facing the wrath of angry gamers.
There was already uproar when Microsoft announced an $80 billion investment to build out its AI data centres, unfortunately timed with up to 15,000 layoffs. Sony has similarly come under fire for accusations that the PS Store has been overrun by shovelware slop. Somewhere in all the mix of this, the PC landscape is caught in the crossfire, with Rockstar Games still going quiet on when GTA VI will release on PC.
It's easy to see why PC players might feel left out in the cold as the embers of the console wars burn away, and due to some concerning wording in Sony's revamped PlayStation strategy, things could be about to get worse.

As reported by Game File, PlayStation has made some interesting changes to its “business environment and strategy,” an annual report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Referring to its Game & Network Services (G&NS) division (a fancy way of saying PlayStation), the 379-word strategy had made some interesting changes between 2025 and 2026, including a mention of how PlayStation "aims to achieve sustainable business growth," nixing the word 'sustainable'. This could have something to do with a new addition that states: "Sony is utilising AI to unleash the creativity of studios and further enhance the PlayStation experience."
Another line has been cut entirely, previously saying: "Sony plans to continue its efforts to deploy its first-party titles to multiple platforms such as PC."
This backs up previous reports that Sony is giving up on time-delayed releases of its biggest titles on PC.
While it's unfair to blame a shift toward AI for the reason PC releases are being shown the door, it's a clear refocus on the company trying to future-proof itself as its rivals do the same.
Elsewhere, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier posted on ResetEra and claimed that Hermen Hulst, Sony Interactive Entertainment's Business Group CEO, told staff why the company was overhauling its PC strategy. Schreier said there's 'no ambiguity' in the strategy and clarified: "During a town hall a few weeks ago, Hermen Hulst told staff that their single-player narrative games will be PlayStation only, and he explained that they were inconsistent with their PC releases, they didn't make enough money, and they want to keep their IP aligned to their own platform."
This comes as Sony Interactive CEO Hideaki Nishino says first-party games will remain shackled to its consoles as the company attempts to turn its back on the likes of Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Responding to the new business strategy and AI pivot on Reddit, there were obvious complaints.
One PC fan lamented: "The corporate executives making decisions are so out of touch with what regular people do and how they live.
“I’m never going to spend $800 on a PS5 Pro. Ever. I’m quite happy to spend money on traditional PS games like TLOU and Spider-Man to play on my PC."
Another added: "Xbox learned that gamers don’t want AI slop in their consoles, Sony will too."
Looking at the bigger picture, someone else concluded: "Everyone will say f**k Sony & PS5 until the GTA 6 bundle comes out and the number of people that will buy the consoles will dwarf the number of people that actually drop the console."
