Kena: Scars of Kosmora will no longer launch this year, it has been confirmed, with the writing perhaps having been on the wall for quite some time.
Ember Labs’ sequel to the beloved Kena: Bridge of Spirits (2021) was first announced at a State of Play in February, with the title set to arrive on PS5 and PC sometime in 2026.
Given that Scars of Kosmora hasn’t surfaced at all in the months since then, for a while now, those original launch plans have looked unlikely.
Well, Ember Labs has made the delay official, revealing that Kena: Scars of Kosmora is now targeting a 2027 launch, although it hasn’t narrowed down that window any further.

“Since our announcement trailer in February, we’ve been heads down bringing Kena: Scars of Kosmora to the finish line,” the team wrote on the PlayStation Blog.
“It’s been exciting to see all the anticipation and passion from fans. We can’t wait to share a new instalment of Kena’s story with you!
“At the same time, we want to deliver a top-notch game that exceeds the quality we achieved with our 2021 debut, Bridge of Spirits, and at a much bigger scale.
“To do that, we need just a bit more time. Pushing our release into 2027 gives us the ability to really polish the expanded game experience we want to deliver.”
If the team is simply refining the experience, there’s every chance that we could see Kena: Scars of Kosmora launch in the first half of the year.
Needless to say, fans of that first outing are disappointed at the delay but if it’s what the game needs, then it’s what the game needs. We all want the best possible result.
“Can't say I'm shocked this one got pushed from this year, just very strange we haven't had it confirmed until now,” said Reddit user BugsMax1.
“I had a feeling, but I’m still disappointed,” added witerawy.
User tayung2013 commented, “A bit disappointing but not unexpected when it wasn’t at any of the SGF showcases or any State of Play events since it was announced. Spring is packed so hopefully this can hit mid-summer-ish and give it a bit of breathing room.”

Ember Labs has teased Scars of Kosmora’s story and new dungeon challenges
Ember Labs was perhaps expecting this response, as it’s softened the blow by dropping new details on the game.
Kena: Scars of Kosmora is another linear adventure “but with a broader and deeper scope than Bridge of Spirits”.

Expanding on what to expect in this sequel’s story, Ember Labs said: “She’s helped spirits of the dead, but has yet to really explore what Spirit Guiding looks like for the living.
“Even deeper, she has always helped other people deal with their pain, but not always focused on her own… Her childhood friend Orfio believes the mysterious island of Kosmora holds the answers they’ve both been looking for. Kena sets out to meet him, hoping to discover more about her past and future as a Spirit Guide.”
Kosmora previously had its own unique approach to Spirit Guiding that incorporated both the four elements and Alchemystic Temples.
These temples have now faded into Kosmora’s past, but they’ll make for dungeon-like experiences that Kena must undertake that’ll propel her forward with transformative new powers.
We can’t wait to dive in, but we are going to have to wait until next year. It is, however, a thrill to see that Kena: Scars of Kosmora is getting a physical release on PS5.
