PS5 Free RPG Drops Another Expansion, Adds Huge New Area

Zenless Zone Zero has just announced a new expansion, adding new quests, storylines, characters, and activities to do.

HoYoverse fans enjoyed Zenless Zone Zero when it first launched back in 2024, with many calling it a potential breakthrough in the action genre. In particular, the combat, open world, and setting were praised.

Zenless Zone Zero has had several significant updates since then, and its newest one is set to massively expand the game with a new storyline and more activities to do.

Version 2.4, which is titled “On the Precipice of the Abyss”, is out today and adds two new playable agents, Dialyn and Banyue. There’s also a new area, Fallen Mecha Stronghold, for the exclusive Neo Golden Mecha event.

The story picks up following the Timesworn Hill crisis from Zenless Zone Zero’s last update, which saw the death of Isolde and disappearance of Ye Shiyuan and Sarah.

“With the assistance of the Krampus Compliance Authority — a TOPS-affiliated enforcement organization tasked with disciplinary oversight — the Proxies successfully averted a disaster beneath Timesworn Hill and glimpsed deeper mysteries waiting within Yidhari's dreamscape,” reads the description of Zenless Zone Zero’s next update.

“Fleeting visions revealed the figures of Sarah and Ye Shiyuan together — an unexpected sight, given that the senior member of Yunkui Summit is not thought to be involved in the conspiracy of the Exaltists and their Creator.

“Meanwhile, his younger sister, Ye Shunguang, now ascended as the new master of the Qingming Sword, joins the Proxies to embark on a journey to uncover the truth. As the Miasma recedes, the old mining site buried a decade ago resurfaces, hinting at new dangers and unseen forces stirring once more.”

Zenless Zone Zero 2.4 Adds Two New Playable Agent Banners

The 2.4 update for Zenless Zone Zero adds two new playable agents. Dialyn is an S-Rank Physical Stun agent from Krampus, who “brings her experience as a cheeky customer service specialist to the battlefield”. She also “excels at stunning enemies while calling up teammates to directly unleash their Ultimate abilities in combat, amplifying the team's damage”.

Meanwhile, Banyue is an S-Rank Fire Rupture agent, whose combat technique “relies on alternating Adrenaline and Wrathful Fires to sustain his continuous actions and fluid combos, rewarding players who master his rhythm”.

As HoYoverse’s gacha games tend to run on a six-week rotation, expect the new content added in Zenless Zone Zero’s newest update to be trickled out over the next month-and-a-half, concluding in early January. It's available on PS5, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile platforms.
