If you’re ever low on something to play, I’d urge you to remember that the brilliant Where Winds Meet exists.
This AAA RPG is essentially what you’d end up with if Assassin’s Creed, Ghost of Yōtei, and Crimson Desert all blended together into one delicious offering.
Best of all, Where Winds Meet is free-to-play on PS5 and PC, with developers offering tons in the way of post-launch content.
Set within Ancient China, the sprawling open-world title charts your rise from a humble warrior to an imperial sword master.

It’s a wuxia game which essentially equates to you being able to pull off fancy parkouring both in combat and during traversal.
The quality of Where Winds Meet is staggering considering its free, but that’s perhaps what we should expect from NetEase.

Despite the game only having launched in November, it’s already added plenty of new content, with a new update having just landed.
Season 3, known as Seek Within, is here and this marks the final chapter of the ongoing Hexi expansion - and yes, this content is free too.
While Where Winds Meet does feature microtransactions, they focus more on cosmetics.
Seek Within introduces a brand new region in the form of Qinchuan but there are a few pre-requisites to accessing it.
You need to have completed the Liangzhoi Campaign Dasan Pass, plus the Qinghe Main Chapter ‘By Lamplight’ quest, as well as have reached level 14.
The region of Qinchuan is described as follows: “Grasses, trees, clouds, and mountains weave a splendid tapestry; the scenery paints a luminous Qinchuan.”
With that aside, here’s everything you can expect in the latest update.
There’s two brand new Jianghu Legacy quests - essentially side quests - with players able to find details of the quests in Hexi’s Wulin Journal.
Volume VI is called ‘The People’s Wish’ which sees you investigate the arrival of several stone lions after a sandstorm while the final quest is known as ‘Southwind’s Wake’ and concerns a glowing blue lantern.
These quests can unlock Medicinal Tales, Echo Jade, and more.
There’s also a new Lost Chapter quest titled ‘To Friends, to the End’ with these quests functioning as narrative expansions.
It surrounds a painter companion, “a kindred spirit you encountered within the vast, drifting dream”.
When it comes to the Qinchuan Campaign, there’s the ‘Sunken City Lake’, ‘Fish Among Algae’, and ‘Azure Glow’ tasks to undertake.
Seek Within also introduces a cool new boss fight, Snowplum Requiem, which sees you face off against two blind siblings who just so happen to be master musicians that can weave melodies into deadly weapons.
In terms of smaller updates, the Solo Mode level cap has risen to Lv. 14 while the Character Level cap has risen to Lv. 95.
Caps have also been raised concerning various types of gear, all of which you can peruse in the full patch notes.
A Training Terrace is available to make use of now within the Wandering Paths - Arena, with the newly added Surething Shop providing access to former event cosmetics from henceforth.
The arrival of the Serpent’s Fang and Bloodstained Sands: Supreme multiplayer campaigns round out the headliners of this update which also introduces an array of cosmetics and small-scale events.
