A trip to the PlayStation Store can result in some fresh entertainment without you having to spend a penny.
That’s because the storefront is home to tons of free demos, all of which you can enjoy without a PlayStation Plus subscription.
You shouldn’t turn your nose up at such offerings; it’s very helpful to ‘try before you buy’, and many demos pertain to highly anticipated new releases.
In fact, the latest demo addition is a taster of a sequel that’s been six years in the making.

Back in 2020, Call of the Sea was launched by developer Out of the Blue and publisher Raw Fury.
This first-person adventure game was set within the 1930s, centring on Norah who set out in search of husband Harry after he went missing during an expedition.
Call of the Sea was free of combat, instead requiring the player to solve a series of puzzles.
A sequel is finally set to continue the story with Harry, voiced by Yuri Lowenthal of Marvel’s Spider-Man fame, returning in Call of the Elder Gods, adding some Lovecraftian influences into the formula.
“All is not well at Miskatonic University,” the synopsis begins.
“Professor Harry Everhart tries to ignore the shadows flitting at the corners of his vision, while student Evangeline Drayton is haunted with impossible dreams of an artifact uncovered a decade ago.
“In their search for answers, the pair will uncover revelations more ancient than anyone could have imagined.”
Players will swap between Harry and Evangeline as they both scour for clues and solve puzzles set across space and time in this “multi-part” approach to puzzling.
There are difficulty levels, plus those who prefer a less severe challenge can toggle on hints.

This is a sprawling journey that’ll take Harry and Evangeline from New England mansions to the Australian outback and everything in between, with the game having been developed in Unreal Engine 5.
The story is inspired by HP Lovecraft’s ‘The Shadow Out of Time’.
It’s due to launch on 12 May across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Ahead of then, though, you can enjoy a slice of the game via a free demo which has landed on various platforms including the PlayStation Store.
The demo grants you access to the opening of the game.
“Our story begins with a letter, a phone call, and a break-in at Everhart Manor. Play the first part of Lovecraftian puzzle adventure Call of the Elder Gods in this demo,” devs tease.
Already on PlayStation, users have awarded the demo a score of 4.24 stars, correct at the time of writing.
An impressive 66% of players rated Call of the Elder Gods’ demo a perfect score of five stars, so it’s clearly going down very well.
To play the demo, simply head on over to the PlayStation Store and search Call of the Elder Gods.
You’ll find plenty of other demo options including for Marvel Cosmic Invasion, Bubsy 4D, Tides of Tomorrow, Outbound, and more.
