Resident Evil Requiem is starting to feel like a distant memory with players having not just rolled credits, but unlocked every possible achievement.
If you’re looking for a new horror experience that may scratch the itch it's left behind, a free new PlayStation 5 offering has you covered.
Incantation is a decent first-person horror developed by Softstar Entertainment that originally landed back in 2024 on PC.
In recent days, however, it’s made its way to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch with a free demo available to sample on that former console’s storefront.
If you recognise the title, Incantation is actually based upon the 2022 horror film of the same name.

The Taiwanese found-footage film sees protagonist Li Ronan attempt to lift a curse placed upon her six-year-old daughter Dodo by encouraging the viewer to recite a chant.
“The game reveals the chilling story behind Chen Village from the movie,” the synopsis begins.
“A mother searching for her missing daughter accidentally stumbles into a village filled with mysterious cults.
“Beyond the palpable madness and fear in the village, there's a sinister force that drives one to despair. What happens when one crosses the forbidden line of this evil deity?”
Players will explore the village and piece together clues as they attempt to locate the protagonist’s missing daughter.

You’ll need to conceal your movement as there are multiple unsettling threats within the village.
The demo lasts for around 45 to 50 minutes, taking you through an early segment of the game.
As for whether Incantation is any good, it appears to have fared well with players, boasting a Mostly Positive score on Steam.
“Even without knowing the original, it is easy to get pulled in by the vibe. If you do know it, the unease takes on a more specific shape,” reads one player review.
“I really enjoyed this game. It has plenty of scares and interesting puzzles throughout to keep you invested in the story. The graphics are also good for an indie company. The sound design and music were also great,” adds another.

There’s no review consensus from critics just yet as it doesn’t appear the game’s PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo launch was accompanied by review code.
However, ImpulseGamer has played the title, awarding it a score of 76.
They wrote, “If you enjoy exploring rich, unsettling worlds while uncovering a story one step at a time, I highly recommend checking out Incantation.”
