PlayStation Plus subscribers can claim a free movie right now, simply by playing some of one of 2021’s best video games.
Some say that we shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, but if that freebie sucks, it feels justified to provide a grimacing frown. However, when you get a PlayStation freebie such as this offering, that frown will be turned upside down.
As of right now, until 30 April 2026, you can earn free credit worth up to $30 in the US to purchase a movie via the Sony Pictures Core streaming app, and it’s yours to keep forever. Well, unless the publisher removes the free digital movie in the unlikely event that happens.
This free movie credit offer is also available in other regions across Europe, including the UK, as well as Australia and more.
Claiming the free movie credit is simple. All you have to do is play Capcom’s Resident Evil Village for at least 30 minutes on PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4. Not that you’d ever need an excuse to play this awesome game, but it’s a fantastic added incentive nonetheless.
By the looks of things, you can spend the free credit on any movie you want, whether it’s Resident Evil related, a new release, or an old release - it’s completely up to you.

The easiest place to download and use the Sony Pictures Core app is via your PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. However, you can also access it via Sony Bravia Smart TVs and Xperia mobile devices.
According to the advert on the PlayStation Plus console page, your free credit will be added to the Sony Pictures Core app by Friday, 8 May 2026.
At least from the PlayStation Plus console page, it’s not clear whether you have to play Resident Evil Village via PS Plus or the version you own outright. So, just to be safe, it might be best to play the PS Plus version.
Resident Evil Village is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2.
