PlayStation 5 owners have yet another new controller to add to their collections, as if they didn’t have enough already.
Modern gaming hardware is seemingly defined by its special edition products, with Xbox and PlayStation almost constantly partnering with studios to create new controllers and console shells based on the most popular games and series.
Results vary significantly as sometimes you get an awesome controller like the one for Doom: The Dark Ages, whereas others look like the God of War 25th Anniversary PlayStation 5 controller…
Personally I miss the days of those colourful, transparent ones, like you’d see for the Nintendo 64.

While Xbox tends to get the most new controller drops today it’s PlayStation’s turn as it officially unveils the new Genshin Impact DualSense.
In case you don’t know what Genshin Impact is, it’s a highly popular open-world RPG produced by miHoYo and published by HoYoverse. The game is free-to-play largely due to its reliance on microtransactions, much of which revolves around spending in-game currency on gatch-style reward drops in order to acquire new characters.

I’ve never tried it and in all honesty it doesn’t look like my cup of tea but it’s been a smash-hit amongst gamers, so no wonder it’s getting a controller to cement its success.

As for the controller itself you’re not getting any too fancy.
The colour is an off-white but decorated with a gold trim. It’s also adorned with several symbols from the game and some of its architecture.
That’s about it, and while the price wasn’t included on the trailer I’d imagine it’ll be priced similarly to other special edition controllers released by Sony. The controller will be released on 11 December.
PlayStation’s New Challenger
PlayStation has been leading the way when it comes to hardware and has done so for arguably the past decade.

Its only slip-up was the initial launch of the PlayStation 3 and while Xbox had put up a good fight it’s pretty clear that Sony has officially won the video game console war.
However a new challenger is entering the fray, the Steam Machine. We’ve been keeping a close eye on Valve’s new hardware and if it can answer a few of our questions we think it could be a serious competitor for PlayStation.
It’s already running circles around Xbox and it’s not even out yet, plus it casts doubt over Xbox’s rumoured next-gen console plans.
