Nintendo drops surprise free N64 download, available now

This one's a banger

Nintendo has dropped a freebie that’ll have you feeling nostalgic, available for you to enjoy right now.

If there’s one thing Nintendo deals in aside from games, it’s nostalgia, though the company seems to be going all-out on the future at the moment with the Nintendo Switch 2 and its upcoming games.

Titles like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza are changing their respective series formulas to deliver something new to players, taking full advantage of the new hardware they’re running on.

Nintendo hasn’t forgotten its history though, with Nintendo Switch Online offering you the chance to play games from the Nintendo Entertainment System to the Nintendo GameCube.

There’s also Nintendo Music, a free accompanying app, which recently added the soundtrack from a platformer that doesn’t get the love it deserves, Yoshi’s Story from the Nintendo 64.

As a sequel to Yoshi’s Island, Yoshi’s Story follows a herd of Yoshi’s on another quest to save their island, no Baby Mario to look after this time.

I have fond memories of this one and if you haven’t played it, you can do so on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 through the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack.

There are plenty of tracks to listen to via Nintendo Music, many of which are bangers, as well as chilled out beats to listen to while you’re studying, working, or playing games.

You’ll find loads of other game soundtracks on there too, like Super Mario 64, The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time and plenty of others.

If you haven’t been using the Nintendo Music app, it’s worth a go, and it won’t cost you anything as it’s included as part of your Nintendo account.

More and more games will be added to it as time goes on, and I’m looking forward to seeing what’ll land on it next.
