Nintendo has just casually announced that a port for a highly requested GameCube game has just dropped on the Nintendo Switch 2, with absolutely zero prior warning.
Fans have been getting a little antsy about Nintendo’s GameCube ports on the Nintendo Switch 2 lately.
One of Nintendo’s biggest selling points for the Nintendo Switch 2 was the addition of emulated GameCube support for the Nintendo Switch Online service, which understandably got a lot of fans excited (considering how difficult it is to get your hands on certain GameCube titles).
Nintendo have been gradually adding at least one new game to the service each month, but fans are starting to get somewhat exasperated with the slow progress.

Well, there’s nothing slow about their latest announcement, because Nintendo just revealed that the Mario spin-off Wario World will be landing on the Nintendo Switch Online service… now.
At least, that’s according to the new trailer that just dropped on the official Nintendo of America YouTube channel, which states that the 2003 platformer is “available now”.
Naturally, fans over on the r/nintendo subreddit are already extremely happy with the news.

“Amazing addition and one that wasn’t announced beforehand in the initial lineup! This game is severely underrated and one of the best platformers on the GameCube”, commented user Cutcutman.
“I know people love Warioland but this is my favorite Wario game and would love to see a sequel in the future!”
“Underrated game honestly. Could be better but a fun time all the same. Glad its here. Now make a new one!” replied user Nayko214.
If you’ve not played this one for yourself yet, I actually think playing it for free through NSO might be the best way to experience it.
Although the public sentiment towards Wario World has improved over the years, it was heavily criticised at launch for its relatively short playtime.
From what I understand, your average playthrough of Wario World will probably take around five hours.
If you’re playing the game for free, that’s not so bad. If you were a kid in 2003 who saved up fifty bucks to buy a new Mario game, that length of playtime is likely to leave you somewhat disappointed.
Still, it’s a fun game with an incredible soundtrack, so I recommend trying it out regardless. Just don’t expect more than a day’s worth of playtime out of it, and you’ll probably end up enjoying it.
