The Nintendo Switch is getting a fresh batch of Pokémon freebies to coincide with the release of Pokémon Pokopia’s first major DLC expansion.
Pokopia’s DLC Pack 1 is titled Bubbly Basin and will launch on August 5 alongside a free update. The paid expansion will add a new town to the game to be ripped apart and rebuilt, alongside over 20 new Pokémon, all of which are aquatic in nature.
A free update will also be released, giving your Ditto the ability to dive underwater so you can explore and build without fear of drowning.
Alongside these exciting additions to the game come eight Nintendo Switch Online icons, which will be released in waves from August 5 onwards. The first wave, as shared by SerebiiNet on X, will feature the Ditto custom-character and Popplio.

The second wave will be released on August 12 and teases the Pokopia’s DLC Pack 2. The next expansion launches later this year and while the fulls scoop hasn’t been shared yet, it’ll be centred around fashion. As such the icons are of Ditto and Peakychu with some snazzy new attire.
Then on August 19 a third wave will drop, taking us back to the Bubbly Basin DLC. This time Ditto will get an icon of their non-human form being carried by a Drifloon, with the other being the mythical Pokémon Manaphy.
Finally, two more icons related to DLC Pack 2 will be released on August 26, rounding out the month. This offering will consist of Snubbell from the second DLC expansion and Tinkaton.
Each icon will likely set you back around 10-20 Platinum Points, which is pretty reasonable considering you earn those points through regular gameplay.
It is a little odd that these icons are mix of Pack 1 and Pack 2 content, considering the latter isn’t supposed to launch until Late 2026 according to Nintendo/The Pokémon Company.
Still it’s an adorable offering, and since they’re effectively free we’re certainly not going to judge.

What’s Pokémon Pokopia’s DLC Pack 2 about?
Like we said before, little has been shared about the second DLC Pack for Pokémon Pokopia, but from what we’ve seen so far it’s pretty easy to predict where the game is heading.
Your Ditto character can be customised with a variety of different outfits, and it seems like the developers want to bring that customisation to the other Pokémon too.
Another new town will be introduced, as well as a bunch of different clothing items for your citizens to wear, like bowtie seen on Snubbell’s NSO icon.
If we had to make a guess we’d imagine the story here is a re-introduction of the Pokémon Super Contest, a minigame found in Gen 4 that let you enter your ‘mon into a beauty contest. Obviously take that with a pinch of salt as it’s just speculation.
Whatever the case it’ll probably be a fun DLC, though we’re at a loss for what the final expansion will be about, and whether a second Expansion Pass will be announced sometime after.
