PlayStation unveiled some new hardware last night, some good, some bad, and some dreadfully disappointing.
State Of Play returned to give us a glimpse into what PlayStation has planned for the rest of the year in addition to 2026, and while many believe the showcase was underwhelming there were some highlights to speak of.
While software like Marvel’s The Wolverine dominated the broadcast, PlayStation took the opportunity to unveil some new hardware on the way, including a series of wireless speakers that actually look pretty good.
Named Pulse Elevate, the speakers are not only wireless but also on the smaller side, meaning they’d be perfect for your living room or desk set-up if you fancy a bit more bass for your gameplay.

They come in either white or black and have a suite of features to make them an ideal pair for your PlayStation 5.
According to PlayStation’s blogpost these features include; Lifelike desktop audio, a built-in microphone with AI-enhanced noise rejection, PlayStation Link technology for ultra-low latency and multi-device connectivity, as well as customisable audio.
One of the main selling points though is the portability, as they look quite lightweight and easy to set-up, so if you have multiple areas to play games in your house they’d probably be ideal.
It’s also worth pointing out that they’re not just for the PlayStation 5, they’ll work with PCs too.

At the time of writing a price hasn’t been allocated to them just yet, and neither has a release date though PlayStation did say it’ll be some time in 2026.
That’s only part of the hardware shown off during last night’s State Of Play, as God Of War fans were treated to a 20th anniversary surprise in the form of a God Of War DualSense controller. It’s white and has a red stripe going across to obviously reflect Kratos, but fans like myself aren’t very impressed by it. To me it looks like somebody at Sony was playing with a white DualSense controller and had a sudden nosebleed.
To add insult to injury, God Of War fans were expecting a remake/remaster of the first God Of War game, so an unimpressive controller announcement rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. That said, that’s the trouble with showcases like this, it’s impossible to please everyone.
