Sony is pushing out all of the stops lately when it comes to new and exciting hardware and this time, fans can look forward to a brand-new DualSense controller to add to their growing collection.

Announced just yesterday, Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed its latest piece of hardware and this one will be a must-buy for fans of 2024’s Game of the Year.

Yes, it is none other than Astro Bot as fans can now grab the limited edition Astro Bot Joyful DualSense that launches just next month.

“Astro Bot returns with a new delightful twist!” The official Twitter announcement read.

It is here that we can see our first glimpse at the new hardware and it is pretty delightful.

Featuring the well-known glowing blue eyes of Astro Bot on the touchpad, the rest of the controller is clad in white all except for blue patches on the handles.

It is simple yet effective and perfect for fans of the platformer game.

Pre-orders for PlayStation’s Astro Bot Joyful DualSense go live on 12 September ahead of the controller’s 30 October launch.

However, it seems as though fans have been left feeling divided over the new release and took to the comments to share their thoughts.

“Day 1 to go with the other one I have,” one fan claimed.

However, another user wishes Sony had gone down a different route.

“Needs an Edge version,” they shared.

“People that buy these will use it for five seconds then go right back to their Edge controller so it’s pointless.”

For collectors, the Astro Bot Joyful DualSense may be another perfect addition but if you are just looking for a simple DualSense controller, this may not be the one for you.

Either way, it just goes to show what other controllers we can look forward to in the future to help celebrate our favourite games.
