Surprise new hardware has been announced by PlayStation, adding to the already burgeoning selection on offer.
A new version of the PlayStation 5 has been shown off, celebrating the upcoming release of Ghost of Yotei, with the console decorated in art from the game.
Available in two variations, the new consoles will be disc-based, and feature a 1TB SSD as standard - there doesn’t seem to be a version for PlayStation 5 Pro at this time.
The variants come down to the artwork that adorns both the console and the Dual Sense controller, giving players the option of black or gold artwork.

If these are looking a little too pricey for you, there is an option to buy covers for your standard PS5 featuring the same artwork of the mountainous map from Ghost of Yotei.
These simply replace the original white panels of the console, and can be bought directly from the PlayStation store.
Let’s not forget those who need a new Dual Sense controller, or simply want to rep the new game with a fancy new bit of kit.
The Dual Sense also comes in the two options of black or gold, featuring painterly swishes of colour, along with protagonist Atsu sketched onto the touchpad.

It’s worth noting that the gold variant is exclusive to PlayStation Direct, so you’ll need to be quick with your preorder, as they’re sure to sell out.
As another side note, when buying the console covers, be sure to select the panels for the right console, as PS5 and PS5 Pro covers are not interchangeable.
The artwork on all hardware is lovely, really evoking the feeling of this game and its predecessor, Ghost of Tsushima.
Ghost of Yotei will arrive on 2 October 2025, and take players on another epic journey across the landscapes of Japan.
