A very important day is finally here; later on, PlayStation will hold its latest edition of State of Play, at 2pm PDT / 4pm CDT / 5pm EDT / 10pm BST.
It’s set to be a very special show given PlayStation’s out-of-the-ordinary behaviour.
This State of Play was unusually announced two weeks in advance, is being streamed in select US cinemas, and has a runtime of over 60 minutes.
In fact, cinema listings place its runtime closer to 90 minutes.

We’ll be covering the event live, so do join us later today, 2 June, for all of the latest headlines.
Ahead of the State of Play, PlayStation has released an update on several pieces of hardware set to launch soon, following a previous reveal.
Let’s begin with the PlayStation FlexStrike Wireless Fight Stick.
This new fighting stick has been developed in-house and is set to launch on 6 August, which is, quite handily, the same day Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls lands on PS5.
It’s available for retail at £179.99 / $199.99 / €199.99 / 34,980 yen, with pre-orders opening on PlayStation Direct on June 12.
To recap, the FlexStrike features “ultra-low latency wireless and wired connection, a built-in rechargeable battery, an included sling carry case, and a solid, comfortable design that’s built for battle”.

It has both DualSense controller buttons as well as a touchpad, with users able to customise various inputs.
It’s handily got a non-slip base and can be connected to your PS5 or PC using PlayStation Link.
Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, Dragon Ball: Sparkling! Zero, Guilty Gear -Strive-, and Mortal Kombat 1 are among the games recommended to work well with the FlexStrike.
PlayStation’s new 27-Inch Gaming Monitor with DualSense Charging Hook is also on the way.
We now know that this will retail for $349.99 / 49,980 yen, with the monitor not yet set to launch in any further territories.
The monitor is available to pre-order from 5 June through PlayStation Direct, with a set launch date of 27 August.
It features a “27-inch QHD IPS display (2560×1440) with VRR, supporting up to 120Hz on PS5 and PS5 Pro, and up to 240Hz on a compatible PC or Mac”, as well as a handy hook to sit and charge your DualSense controller on.
Of course, it’s a great option for those looking to upgrade their PC monitor, but it should also cater to PS5 gamers who don’t wish to hook their console up to a regular old TV.
These aren’t the only two pieces of hardware on the way.
There’s also the Pulse Elevate Wireless Speaker, but details on this one remain listed as coming later this year.
Interestingly, Sony is choosing to release all of this hardware news ahead of today’s State of Play.
The showcase’s line-up must be full to the brim, not to shine a spotlight on these new products.
