To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the God of War franchise, Sony has announced a limited edition DualSense controller.
However, fans are not so sure on its design or price point.
It is hard to believe that it has been 20-years since we first met our favourite Spartan warrior Kratos in 2009’s God of War.
The first game was such a success that it went on to receive two more entries with the first trilogy marking Kratos’ journey through ancient Greece and his battles with the mighty gods and goddesses.

Although there have been plenty of spin-off games added to the franchise, it was back in 2018 that a lot of people were first introduced to the Santa Monica Studio’s his action-adventure series thanks to God of War.
The modern-day reboot saw Kratos, now accompanied with his son Atreus, as they journeyed through the land of giants in ancient Scandinavia and thanks to its 2022 sequel God of War Ragnarök, the franchise is as popular as ever.
So it is perhaps no surprise that Sony wanted to commemorate its 20th anniversary by releasing a limited-edition DualSense controller.
The DualSense® Wireless Controller - God of War™ 20th Anniversary Limited Edition is now available to pre-order ahead of its 23 October release date.

However, fans are not so sure about its simple design and expensive price point.
The controller itself comes in the standard white of a DualSense with the only difference being a red stripe on the right hand side, mimicking the war paint on Kratos.
Despite the simple design, Sony is asking for £74.99 for the limited-edition DualSense so it is unsurprising that users have taken to r/GodofWar to express their outrage.
“It's disrespectful,” user PhotoModeHobby expressed.

“I'd rather have nothing for five years instead of being sold this. Why is it even more expensive than an already overpriced standard controller? It's just a red stripe.”
Another user agreed, adding, “In my opinion it just seems a bit underwhelming for something costing $90-$110 USD (depending on your location).
I feel like it would've been better priced at around $70-$80 USD. Not a bad controller per say, just not really fitting for the price point.”
With many potential fans claiming that they could design this controller themselves with some red paint, it seems as though Sony have really missed a trick with this limited edition DualSense.

However, for user ecto_BRUH, they enjoy the simplistic design.
“I really like it, I suppose I'm in the minority but the simple stripe really does it for me and I kinda hate the ones with super intricate designs, the last GoW one included.”
Well, they do say that art is subjective.
