A PS1 classic from our childhood is finally returning on modern consoles

The PS1 gave us some bangers, and one of them is finally making its return

PlayStation fans are welcoming back an icon on the PS1 era, now with a fresh look and updated controls for a modern audience.

Over the last few years we’ve seen a resurgence of ‘90s video game characters getting another chance to shine, like Gex The Gecko, Tomba, and you could even argue Sonic The Hedgehog is back on top following the launch of Sonic X Shadow Generations.

Check out the trailer for Sonic X Shadow Generations below

But while I’d love to talk about my all-time favourite classic games from childhood, the one we’re talking about today is Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, the PlayStation 1 game that’s made a surprising comeback.

Released in 1997, Croc is a platformer where players had to rescue creatures called Gobbos in several different realms, moving Croc himself with tank controls that honestly haven’t aged well.

It’s a well-loved game by many, and it’s finally making a return for a modern audience with a remaster.

The remaster will give the game HD visuals, replace the tank controls with modern controls, and include a museum featuring behind-the-scenes info on the game’s development and interviews with the developers. For those who actually liked the tank controls of the original, there is an option to turn them back on if you wish to.

Now a release date hasn\t been revealed yet, so it’s looking like the game will release in 2025.

It’s not just PlayStation players who’ll be getting their hands on the game though, as a recent trailer revealed the remaster is getting released for all modern platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and of course PC.

Whether you’ve played the original back in 1997 or you’re completely new to the IP, this remaster is definitely one to put on your wishlist for updates on the release date.
