PlayStation Plus will soon gain some real bangers, as confirmed during the recent State of Play event.

Considering the premium tier is so pricey, it isn’t as well stocked as the cheaper extra tier.

Heck, some months, even the essential tier outperforms it with the premium catalogue gaining a single measly addition.

While I can’t necessarily say whether we’re going to see heftier game drops in the future, I can confirm that several fantastic titles are on the way very soon.

PlayStation recently held a State of Play event, confirming that three classic games will soon arrive on the premium catalogue.

The first of these is the PlayStation 2’s Tomb Raider Anniversary, an addition that previously leaked online due to its trophy list surfacing.

If you recall, the game followed Lara as she sought out the Scion of Atlantis with the journey taking her though Peru, Greece, and Egypt before finally arriving at The Lost Island.

For the fighting fans amongst you, the original PlayStation’s Tekken 3 will also be joining the premium catalogue.

The title debuted several iconic characters, including the likes of Jin Kamaza and Ling Xiaoyu.

Finally, we have the PlayStation 2’s Soulcalibur III to look forward to. The fighting fans are feasting particularly well.

The only problem is that we don’t know precisely when these games will drop.

PlayStation simply said “later this year”.

I can tell you that The Last of Us Part II Remastered is available on the extra tier as of today in celebration of The Last of Us Day.

I wonder if we’ll get any other exciting announcements today?

If you don’t have a PS5, don’t worry.

You’ll still be able to enjoy The Last of Us Part II via PlayStation Plus as of today, but it’ll be the original PlayStation 4 version.

Plus, Alan Wake 2, Goat Simulator 3, and Cocoon are your October essential tier games; those will be available from 7 October.

All in all, there’s some brilliant games on the way and classics fans are definitely pleased.

“So pumped for Soulcalibur 3 to be added. Gives me hope that one day I will see a Budokai 3 added,” wrote Reddit user Loud_Examination_138.

“Tekken 3 F**K YES,” _steve_roger_ added.

Sony still needs to win some fans over, however. “Too late. I'm going back to extra or essential,” remarked wiiguyy.

As soon as we know precisely when these games are being added, we’ll bring that news to you.
