Who doesn't love to claim some video game freebies? Well, of course you do, otherwise you wouldn't be here - and today’s freebie is one for PlayStation gamers.

Ever since the PlayStation 3 generation, gamers of the blue brand have been able to customise their profiles with avatar pictures inspired by franchises such as God of War, LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted and many more. While not a game-changing feature, it’s still nice to let friends on your list know who you’re representing.

Check out the Astro Bot trailer below!

During the recent State of Play digital event, Sony announced that the Astro series is to get its second full standalone release following the 2018 PSVR title Astro Bot Rescue Mission with Astro Bot coming to PlayStation 5 later this year, and it will also benefit from free post-launch DLC.

“The PS5 mothership has been wrecked, leaving Astro and the bot crew scattered all over the galaxies. Time to ride your trusty Dual Speeder across more than 50 planets full of fun, danger and surprises,” reads the synopsis of Astro Bot. “On your journey, make the most of Astro’s new powers and reunite with many iconic heroes from the PlayStation universe!"

In our hands-on preview of Astro Bot, we said, “Astro Bot oozes the creativity I’d expect from Nintendo’s games, and it’s partly the reason I suspect it to be a contender for my GOTY if the full game is just as good as my hands-on demo.”

Ahead of the game's release, PlayStation 5 gamers can get into the spirit by downloading four free avatars to show off on their PlayStation profile. My favourite of the four free profile pics has to be the Astro Bot in the Saturday Night Fever dance pose.

The four free Astro Bot profile pictures are available until 11 July 2024, so be sure to claim them as soon as possible to avoid missing out. Astro Bot will be released exclusively for PlayStation 5 on 5 September 2024.
