After being promised two DLCs for the old-gen port, PlayStation users are being offered refunds for their $60 game as the second and final content drop has been axed.
With gamers' budgets stretched beyond comprehension in the upcoming months, $60 back in your pocket will go a long way to getting your mitts on Grand Theft Auto VI, Marvel's Wolverine, Blood of the Dawnwalker, and many more.
Thankfully, any PlayStation 4 or Xbox One users who decided to buy Dying Light 2 in 2025 are being refunded, as The Beast DLC has been officially canned.
Back in 2022, Dying Light 2 promised that it would have two major DLCs. While the series has shipped free content to its fans during this time, the latter of the big updates turned into a game of its own.
Dying Light: The Beast turned into a game of its own, and Techland promised that owners of the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2 would receive it at no extra cost, given it was originally promised as a DLC.

However, with the game releasing on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X to rave reviews, earning an 'excellent' 8/10 rating on GAMINGbible, The Beast's old-gen ports haven't arrived.
Having struggled with backtracking on a well-optimised game, Techland has now decided that it's not worth shipping the older ports, especially with new generations of consoles coming soon, which offer new opportunities.

"After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision that Dying Light: The Beast will no longer be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One," Techland said on X.
"Dying Light: The Beast was built from the ground up to take full advantage of current-generation hardware. Its open world, advanced visuals, and fluid combat and traversal all depend on processing power and memory that previous-generation consoles simply cannot provide.
"As development progressed, it became clear that bringing the game to those platforms would require compromises that would prevent us from delivering the experience we set out to create.
"We know many of you were looking forward to playing on PS4 or Xbox One, and we are truly sorry for the disappointment this causes. Anyone who was expecting to play on either platform will be eligible for a refund."

As to what the refunds entail, it's not yet known. It's unlikely that it will be the full game that gets refunded, after all, it is a full game with one DLC, but The Beast is worth $60 on its own.
The Dying Light developers aren't slowing down, though, and have previously teased a new game built in Unreal Engine 5.
