Other than playing a vast library of games courtesy of Sony’s PlayStation Plus subscription service, it also allows us to sample some of the biggest new releases, including Game of the Year contenders.

Depending on the tier that you subscribe to, you can enjoy additional benefits such as a curated catalogue of movies, cloud streaming, playing classic games of yesteryear and trying before you buy thanks to the PS Plus trials. The PlayStation Plus trials, which are included in the Premium tier, can range from less than an hour to up to five hours. What’s more, you will earn Trophies during that time and your save will carry over should you decide to purchase the full game.

Check out the Alan Wake 2 trailer below!

2023 was truly a blessed year for video games which saw the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Baldur’s Gate 3, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and much more released. One other game that was a hit last year was Alan Wake 2 from Remedy Entertainment.

“Saga Anderson arrives to investigate ritualistic murders in a small town. Alan Wake pens a dark story to shape the reality around him,” reads the synopsis of Alan Wake 2. “These two heroes are somehow connected. Can they become the heroes they need to be?”

In my review of Alan Wake 2, I said: “It does everything you’d want from a sequel. Alan Wake 2 looks better, it plays better, it sounds better and it brings scares in abundance. Alan Wake 2 is another crown jewel in Remedy Entertainment’s library and a sequel that will delight fans.”

If you’re yet to play Alan Wake 2 and you subscribe to PlayStation Plus Premium, now is the perfect time because you can trial the game for a generous three hours. If the opening few hours of Alan Wake 2 don't sell you on it, then I don’t know what will.

That being said, the first game in the series, Alan Wake Remastered, is often heavily discounted in sales, and I’d highly recommend playing that first because this Remedy Entertainment tale can get a little confusing at the best of times.

Alan Wake 2 is out now on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
