It’s official, cloud streaming is coming to PlayStation Plus this month, exclusively for Premium members.

Sony officially announced the surprise news via their official PlayStation social media channels, as well as in a new blog post outlining the key features.

Check out the trailer for PlayStation Plus cloud streaming below!

Cloud streaming will only be available for select titles, with more planned to be added over time. This also includes games available through the PlayStation Plus Extra library, as well as the game trials featured on the Premium tier.

Some of the games featured for the new perk include the Extra game catalogue titles Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, Ghost of Tsushima, Mortal Kombat 11, and Saints Row IV, in addition to Premium trial games like Hogwarts Legacy, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and The Callisto Protocol.

Non-PS Plus games will also be supported, including Resident Evil 4 (2023), Dead Island 2, Genshin Impact, Fall Guys, and Fortnite.

This also applies to DLC for games, which will also be supported for cloud streaming.

Several resolution options will reportedly be available, allowing users to choose how their game is displayed. Option include 4K, 1440p, 1080p, and 720p. 60fps is also supported, in addition to SDR/HDR. Players will also be able to record parts of the streamed gameplay, with up to three minutes of video and as many screenshots as you want, provided you've got the storage space to house them all.

It goes without saying that cloud streamed features will depend heavily on your internet speed, so results may vary in terms of gaming experience and what resolution you can play with.

As for release dates, the cloud streaming perk is targeted for release on different dates for Japanese, European and US users, with planned dates as followed: Japan is targeting 17 October, Europe is targeting 23 October, and North America is targeting 30 October.

PlayStation cloud streaming is an exclusive feature for Premium PlayStation Plus users only.
