PlayStation Plus gamers urged not to sleep on 'great' free game

Honestly forgot this game existed

One of PlayStation Plus’ recent additions has already proven to be a hit with subscribers, which is handy considering I’m pretty sure 90% of gamers wouldn’t have ever heard of the title if it wasn’t available through the PS Plus catalogue.

F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch dropped back in 2021 to decent reviews, although it faded into relative obscurity mere weeks after it finally hit store shelves.

The metroidvania was developed by TiGames and published by Bilibili… the video streaming service. Somehow I am only just finding out that they also actually publish games.

F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch found its way into the PlayStation Plus Extra catalogue last month, alongside the likes of Sonic Frontiers and Forspoken.

It seems that, even though it was up against some well-known titles, it still managed to catch the eye of a few PlayStation owners.

Over on a thread on the r/PlayStationPlus subreddit, commenters chimed in with their experiences playing it so far.

“Just finished it. It is a great game, I absolutely loved the level design, environments and visuals. My only issue is that the bosses gets extremely difficult as you progress. Spent hours dying and replaying though I had unlocked most of the special moves,” commented user gabrielleraul.

ICYMI: God of War Ragnarök is joining the extra tier.

“Great game if you're looking for a 10+ hour game. The badass bunny is badass!”

“As someone who doesn't really like the Metroidvania, I really liked this game and had a lot of fun. Everything just felt so good and satisfying in this game,” replied user Ancient13GameR.

“Characters, gameplay, music, sound design, level design, different abilities and combos. Love them all.”

I’m gonna be completely honest with you, I forgot this game existed. But looking through some gameplay footage has made me wonder why I never gave it a chance back in 2021.

Every now and again, stuff like this makes me realise why I’ll never cancel my PS Plus subscription.
