PlayStation Plus subscribers have last chance to play an underrated open-world RPG

PlayStation Plus subscribers need to play this fantastic RPG before it leaves the service this month

PlayStation Plus subscribers are losing a criminally-underrated game towards the end of the month, play it before it goes.

While yesterday’s announcement of new PlayStation Plus games was a pretty good one, it’s been somewhat soured by the news that a pretty solid title is departing the service later this month.

If you watched the Fallout show, fancy playing the games but don’t know where to start, check out the below video for GAMINGbible’s recommendations.

Turns out Kingdom of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is departing PlayStation Plus on 21 May, which is just in a few weeks.

This was spotted and shared by Inevitable-Middle412 on Reddit, along with a screenshot of the game’s store page with its date included.

Inevitable-Middle412’s post read: “I just saw that Kingdom of Amalur Re-Reckoning is also leaving this month, 21 May. Does anyone know why?”

The reason, as many subscribers pointed out in the comments, is probably due to licensing issues, or the developer just didn’t want to pay to have its game on PlayStation Plus any longer.

For those who haven’t played it, Kingdom of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is a remaster of the original game, and a fantastic RPG to try, especially when you can do so at no additional cost.

It’s got Baldur’s Gate 3 vibes but the combat isn’t turn-based, it’s more akin to a hack-and-slash like Devil May Cry or even the recently released Stellar Blade.

Bestselling author R.A. Salvatore and Spawn creator Todd McFarlane worked on the game, along with one of the lead designers of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

It scored quite favourably in reviews, and it’s a crying shame it’s not talked about more as it’s a very fun RPG.

Unfortunately you haven’t got long left to give it a whirl, as after 21 May it’ll be long gone from PlayStation Plus, so try it before it leaves.
