PlayStation Plus price cut leaves subscribers furious

PlayStation Plus price cut leaves subscribers furious

It's causing chaos

PlayStation Plus apparently has a price-cut as part of the Black Friday deals, but it’s causing a whole mess of confusion.

The Black Friday deals are your best chance to snag discounts on some of the latest games, like Astro Bot, Star Wars Outlaws, Silent Hill 2 (2024) etc. Older games are also on sale, for instance I picked up Nier Automata for £13 last night which I was very happy about.

If you can get Astro Bot though I’d recommend that, it is a Game Of The Year contender after all

Alongside the games and hardware discounts through PlayStation Plus is also being discounted for new subscribers, but some users reckon this counts for renewing subscriptions as well.

A Reddit thread urged fans to renew or upgrade their subscriptions for a discounted price, claiming they were being offered 25% off for a new subscription.

Unfortunately this deal doesn’t seem to be available for everyone, and it’s unclear it’s a problem with PlayStation’s side of things.

“I got 20% off renewing my existing subscription. I think it’s not for everyone” said one fan and another added that they’re seeing “a 30% discount off renewing my Premium for a year.”

Others claimed they couldn’t see any discounts, with others saying they’re only visible in the PlayStation app rather than the store page.

Eventually the original poster came back and suggested users should turn off auto-renewal, as that could be causing some technical problems that prevent you from seeing the discount.

Nevertheless if you can see a discount on your end, whether it be through the console itself or the app, I’d urge you take advantage, and if it lets you upgrade to Premium for a teeny tiny price like it’s done in the past I’d recommend that even more.

That said, make sure auto-renewal is off if you don’t want any nasty surprises whenever your subscription runs out.
