PlayStation Plus subscribers are in awe over a free PlayStation 5 upgrade for one of its most underrated action games.

The PlayStation Plus library has expanded once again this week as the latest games for October have been unveiled, featuring some truly iconic horror titles arriving just in time for Halloween.

That’s not what we’re talking about today though, instead we’ll be talking about a title you might have not heard of and would be urged to play by those who’ve given it a chance.

It’s called Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun and not only is it available on PlayStation Plus, there’s also a free upgrade included for all PlayStation 5 owners.

“Shadow Tactics is a hardcore tactical stealth game set in Japan around the Edo period. A new Shogun seizes power over Japan and enforces nationwide peace” reads the game’s description.

It continues: “In his battle against conspiracy and rebellion, he recruits five specialists with extraordinary skills for assassination, sabotage and espionage.”

The game is available on multiple platforms but subscribed to either PlayStation Plus Extra or PlayStation Plus Premium can try the game at no additional cost

What some subscribers might not know though is you don’t have to play the PlayStation 4 version of the game anymore. Reddit user kabirsingh84 made a post pointing out Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun now has “free PS5 upgrade with 4K/60 FPS support.”

This upgrade applies to those who bought the game in addition to those who play it through their PlayStation Plus subscriptions. I believe something similar was done for both Ghost Of Tsushima and Death Stranding with the PlayStation 5 versions of those games.

It’s a generous offer and one that fans of the game were very grateful for. Many took the time to leave a comment that sang the game’s praises.

“Thanks, wouldn't have known if not for this post” read one comment and another relating to the game said “One of the best games that made me fall in love with Mimimi world.”

“I love this game. Good opportunity to get back to it!” said one more comment.

If you haven’t given Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun a go yet now seems as good of a time as any to do so, but you’d be forgiven if you’d rather check out some of those October additions first, it is the spooky season after all.
