PlayStation Plus free games for October on track to be a huge improvement

The only way is up

The PlayStation Plus free games for October 2023 could see a huge win for subscribers after one of the worst months in recent memory.

We're not exactly having the best month over in PlayStation Plus land, especially when you consider Xbox Game Pass subscribers are tucking Starfield right now. What do PlayStation Plus subscribers have for September? One of the worst months of free games the service has ever seen, and a steep price increase across all three tiers. It's like being forced to watch someone enjoy a five-star meal while you tuck into a plate of liquid shit.

Take a look at our review of Starfield below, why don't you?

Clearly, there's a lot riding on the free games for October. I mean, we can all agree the free games for September - Saints Row, Black Desert–Traveler Edition, and Generation Zero - did precisely nothing to justify the price hike. If people are being asked to stick around and pay more, they need to see something big. Maybe not on the level of Starfield, but something. Anything.

As it stands, the PlayStation Plus free games for October are set to be a major improvement because... well, because they have to be. I can't quite imagine how next month could be any worse than the month we just got, can you?

Also, let's take a look at last October: Hot Wheels Unleashed, Injustice 2, and Superhot. That's a great month!

Given October is spooky season maybe we can hope for a horror game in the mix. A classic Resident Evil would definitely win a few angry fans back over. And given Marvel's Spider-Man 2 launches 20 October, next month could be the perfect time to give subscribers the original Marvel's Spider-Man, or Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

We won't know for sure what Sony has in store for us for a few weeks yet, but I can tell you this for sure: It simply can't get any worse.
