PlayStation Plus subscribers are discussing an overlooked title in the Extra games catalogue, and are urging players to try it themselves.

PlayStation users who subscribe to the Extra and Premium tiers of PlayStation Plus have hundreds of free games to peruse thanks to the ever-expanding Extra game catalogue. While many will likely have their attention drawn by AAA releases like Ghost of Tsushima, God Of War (2018) and Marvel’s Spider-Man, sometimes there are hidden gems waiting to be uncovered, if you’re willing to dig them out.

Take a look at the trailer for Chicken Police- Paint It RED! below

One such title is Chicken Police- Paint It RED!, a narrative-driven detective game with a unique art style and compelling storyline.

It’s the type of game that you could easily gloss over if you had to buy it separately, but PlayStation Plus has done a good job of encouraging people to give it a go.

Reddit user Jamilslibi made a post talking about the game and said: “When i saw the game on the extra catalogue i thought it looked cheap and ugly, but decided to give it a chance cause of the good reviews. It's like L.A noire meets zootopia, characters are generic but fun”

They went on to say: “It's a short game (completed it in 2 days), you get used to the black and white filter quickly and even tho the story isn't mind blowing (with a lot of generic story points like the detective that drowns himself in liquor and the mysterious woman that appears in your office) it still has a good story to tell with a likeable cast and a city that immerses you in its history.”

Other PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers agreed, believing is criminally overlooked compared to other smaller titles on the service.

“I gave it a go cuz I needed something to play while also chilling and didnt want anything I needed to be every second ready to react … Chicken Police is a great game that probably is overlooked too much.”

“I played it on Luna, ridiculous but fun.”

“I played this awhile back on Extra and I enjoyed it as well. It looked funny with all the animals so I figured I would give it a shot. The game definitely feels constrained by its budget but overall I found it entertaining and interesting.”

Chicken Police- Paint It RED! Is available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers.
