PlayStation Plus is a godsend for trying out new games. With everything from deep strategy games to fast-paced first-person shooters, there’s something for everyone here.

While PlayStation Plus users are currently enjoying the latest games to hit the monthly Essential picks, another game recently landed on the service that fans seem to be really enjoying - although it has since departed too,

If you’re stuck choosing a new game to play with your PlayStation Plus subscription, this recent hit might have you considering it.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard came to PlayStation Plus Essential in March, being the headliner addition to that month’s roster of games.

Originally launched in October last year, the game received a mixed reception from fans on launch.

GAMINGbible's Emma Flint reviewed it last year, giving it a 10/10 score and writing: “After such an agonising wait, the franchise I adore is back as strong as ever. It respects what’s gone before while also welcoming change and innovation.”

Despite the lukewarm sales, it was able to find an audience on PlayStation Plus Essential. Fans over on the PlayStation Plus Reddit page have had good things to say about it.

“I don’t pay much attention to what others say about Dragon Age The Veilguard,” one poster wrote on Reddit. “I just really love the dark fantasy world and I’ve been enjoying it a lot. The combat is pretty great, also this game is one of the latest AAA games available on PS Plus.”

“Thought it started off really slow for sure, and on and off it would click and then unlock for me,” another wrote. “But the last handful of chapters and hours during the last few big set pieces and bosses/fights were very cool.”

“I played it for a few hours and had fun, have other big story games I'm going through but ill more than likely go back and beat it,” a third commenter wrote. However, they were not as interested in the game’s writing: “Never used the skip convo button so much in a game before though.”

There are plenty of great RPGs available on PlayStation Plus, and we’d recommend checking out Dragon Age: The Veilguard if you have the chance. You'll need to have downloaded it last month.
